Boston Light at dawn as I leave the harbor on an outgoing tide

I discovered a new favorite thing while single handing - I sit on the bow and look aft while the boat is driving threw the waves. It looks like you're going a lot faster than you really are and if the seas are heavy enough, the spray over the side makes it look that much cooler. My camera has a movie function so if you want to download the AVI file, right-click here and select "Save Target As..." (warning: 15 MB file).

The wind was fantastic on this trip and the boat performed beautifully. I tested out my jack lines and tried to get used to the idea of being tethered the whole time, as will be the case when I single hand through Maine, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia this summer.
